A Channel and Channeler Interviewed
Gaia/Mother Earth through Pepper Lewis - 2007

We represent a collective of German scientists who study paranormal activities. We are primarily interested in the close association between man and spirit. We would like to find as many bridges as possible between these seemingly separate entities so that the two can be brought closer together. We do not have a specific agenda and our funding allows rather wide latitude within which to consider a variety of physical and metaphysical phenomena.

Ms. Lewis, with your permission and that of Gaia, we would like to conduct an experiment that involves both an interview with you, the channel, and with Gaia, the sentience that channels through you. The purpose of the experiment is to note the differences and the similarities between your conscious awareness and your channeling awareness. We understand that you do not enter a trance state in the literal sense, but we hope that even an ephemeral trance-like condition would produce most interesting results. The questions we will pose are both general and specific; we think that some questions may prove more interesting and challenging for you and others for Mother Earth. The order in which the questions will be asked has been shuffled so as not to create a recognizable sequence for the mind. We have conducted this experiment before with a channel that was less adept at subtleties than you; the parameters were different and the questions simpler. If you will give us leave, we would like to begin:

In the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina there was a lot of desperation that in turn led to looting and other immoral acts. Why do you believe this happened?

Gaia: Beneath society there are caverns of degradation, squalor and wretchedness. There is a destitute populace underneath every city, whose vices and crimes those above would wish to ignore. With misery and ignorance as their guide, these beings grope through the darkness hoping that one day the light will also apply to them. These are acts of the lesser born and those whose ignorance has cast a fog about them, creating near-sightedness and an appetite than cannot be satisfied. Such acts are to be pitied, but are they not the products of a society that sees fit to trample upon its own? Pepper: When people are hungry and thirsty they don't always stop to think about what might or might not be the moral thing to do. I think that the laws enacted by men and imposed upon humanity make sense some of the time, but not all of the time. Our society applies its laws selectively and with bias, making those who do not have what they need or want believe that the only way to get it is to take it. Natural catastrophes bring out the exception rather than the norm, which the media tends to aggrandize.

Will New Orleans be rebuilt?

Gaia: No, not in the way that it was before the hurricane, it will not be the same again. When in the future history looks back at New Orleans, it will be remembered for many things beyond the birthplace of Jazz music - it will be remembered as one of the first places upon North American shores where nature spoke clearly in a language that all could understand. Nature has many faces and this one said, 'it is not safe here, go elsewhere.' New Orleans will also be remembered as one of the first instances in which the federal government was incapable or unwilling to meet the needs of one of its member states. It will be remembered for other things as well, but as these have not occurred yet, it would be difficult and unfair to make observations as if in hindsight.

Pepper: Yes, I believe it will. I think it will be a smaller New Orleans, because some of it will no longer be buildable. Without insurance, and with a big mortgage, many may choose to walk away from the past and begin again elsewhere. I saw this happen when I lived in Southern California. The real estate market had just undergone one of its 'through the roof' markets just before the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The quake changed everything. Of course, ten years later prices went through the roof again, so I could be incorrect. New Orleans has deeper roots than Los Angeles and I think its residents will fight for their restoration. Either way, history will have been changed forever.

Can you comment upon or make observations that could benefit New Orleans and its residents in the future?

Gaia: It is important to take note of the landscape itself and ask important questions such as, what does this land lend itself to? Moreover, it would benefit the future of all concerned to study the geochronology of this area, or the ages of geologic events and rock formations. Why is there sand under the surface instead of rock? Long ago, and longer than that, there was an underground (underwater) base there. The local cooperative elements lent themselves to such a purpose. This advanced launching station accommodated a means of travel that used the magnetic grids of the earth for vehicle propulsion. If the earth's magnetic properties were well understood, and then combined with other properties, this physical area could once again lend itself to a purpose that would benefit many, and at a profit as well.

Pepper: I've never been to New Orleans. I've seen the same images on television that everyone else has. I hope to take a trip there some day, but if I do I will have nothing to compare it with. I hope that whoever chooses to live there does so consciously. I hope that they rebuild a little of the past and find comfort in a little of the present, and then create a brand new future New Orleans. I would want the residents to breathe new life into it instead of recreating what already was. If I could go back twenty years in my life, I would do so to see what I could improve upon or what I could learn more quickly and less painfully. I would wish the same for New Orleans, but in regard to its future. I hope it creates itself anew instead of recreating what already was.

Is humanity capable of accomplishing such a task?

Gaia: No, not yet. But it is ready to raise its awareness in this regard. It is better to do so now than to rebuild in error. In the future, the planet's ley lines and grids will be more clearly understood. The earth is a magnetically resonant celestial body. The geomagnetic properties by which the grids influence the surface of the planet will become an important science in the near future. Events such as hurricanes and earthquakes are not haphazard in their movements; they are magnetically attracted and directed. Continued ignorance of such forces of nature will come at a great cost.

Pepper: Yes, if it is allowed and encouraged to do so. Anything and everything is possible, without exception.

What can we know now about the force or language of nature that we could immediately apply in helpful ways?

Gaia: The earth is a library; it is a university of living intelligence whose application in any subject or direction leads to wisdom. The earth is an experimental laboratory offering degrees of learning to those who are willing to surrender their ignorance. Ignorance is a by-product of lack, but there is no lack in nature, therefore the lack or unawareness must lie elsewhere. Eradication of ignorance is paramount to the continuation of life upon the earth. Intelligence lies in dormancy within some and in an awakened state in others, but it is available to all. Nature, both intelligent and instinctive, is actively recruiting awareness within humanity, but time is short.

Pepper: In essence we all speak the same language, but we hear it differently. The kingdoms speak to us in a symbolic language and the elements relate to us in their own way. Of all the kingdoms it seems that humanity has the hardest time seeing the unity that binds us all. We tend to place our awareness in lack and separation, even when other options present themselves. I think the earth (Gaia) is doing its best to show us a different way.

Is time really short or does it just seem so? Are we really in a hurry to get somewhere by a certain time?

Gaia: There is an urgency, yes. Time is in short supply and it eventually will run out. Time, as currently understood, is a measure of things as they appear in the third dimension. But the third dimension is collapsing and so are its functions and measures. Expanding light (intelligence) travels more quickly through the higher dimensions than the lower ones. Light accelerates or decelerates intelligence as referenced by the dimension and its corresponding spectrum of light. As the third dimension continues to collapse it is likely that light will decelerate accordingly, forcing the concept of time within the third dimension into a state of urgency. Humanity is already responding to this urgency with a hurried sensation as well as an unexplained fear of being left behind.

Pepper: I believe that when our perspective is a balanced one, there is enough time to accomplish all that we came here to do, Unfortunately, we have heaped a lot of things on our plates that are not necessarily our own, and then we feel bad when they don't get accomplished. We are absolutely being challenged to rise above circumstance, but I don't think there is a specific time by which it needs to be accomplished. I try to remind myself that I am already 'here', wherever here is, because as long as I think there is better, my energies are scattered and I feel less integrated in all that I do.

Is it possible that some people, places or things will actually be left behind?

Gaia: Not in the way that you think, but nature is intelligent in design and will not force that which is to be that which is not. Intelligence does not ask a turkey to abandon its barnyard in order to live among the rocky crags as the eagle does. If the turkey desires to soar high above the ground it must first reinvent itself as an eagle, or perhaps embody a hawk if it not quite prepared to become an eagle, do you see? That being said, nature will leave the gate to the barnyard open from dawn to dusk, or for as long as it takes for the turkey to choose its next experience. Nature/Spirit offers choices but does not force choice. What humanity calls limitation nature calls an enclosed barnyard with an open gate.

Pepper: Within esoteric circles and metaphysical communities there is a great desire for dimensional shifts, ascension activations, and all manner of expansion of awareness. This leads us to believe that the rest of the world wants the same thing. Ultimately, that is probably true, but we tend to want things in different ways and in our personal timing. Those of a religious background have a different idea of cosmology as it relates to humanity's past and future and it is important that we honor their views even if they are not our own. We are a diverse species and I believe we will all continue to be guided to make the highest and the best decisions for ourselves, for each other and for All That Is.

Do you have a political affiliation or party preference?

Gaia: No, although every season or so it seems that I am associated with a campaign or a candidate. It is impossible for a sentience to be drawn into such polarity, for by nature the planet already contains both and all. That being said, a sentient planet would naturally favor a sentient race of beings to share its resources with, and sentience and sovereignty are a well-matched pair. At this time, there is no one party or platform that endorses sovereignty so needless to say, I yet hide among the demographics of the unregistered voters.

Pepper: I don't anymore, but I used to. If Gaia was running for office I would vote with confidence, but right now the political stage looks pretty dismal. I don't take politics very seriously because I don't think the current office-holders are our true leaders. I tend to think of them as placeholders or substitutes. I do vote in almost every election because it is symbolic of sovereignty and I would like humanity to move in that direction. I don't pay much attention to political rhetoric so I use my intuition to scan the ballot. These days I am much more interested in what is taking place at the community level.

Do you approve in anti-depressants as a form of therapy during this time of upheaval?

Gaia: My approval is irrelevant and no one has asked for it, but it depends entirely upon the individual and his life's purpose. It also depends upon the physiology and the polarity of his body; some body types are more suited for it than others. Hemispherically speaking, some beings are better able to endure the gaps that exist between life-lessons and evolutional leaps. There are many forms of therapy and the best are more natural, but the brain has already accustomed itself to artificial intervention, and understands the context within which anti-depressants are used. Twenty years from now most forms of therapy will have been overhauled or abandoned, and there will be therapies in place to assist those who have become dependant upon all artificial means of sustenance. It would be best to begin sooner rather than later, but within one's own timing, and with a supportive alternative.

Pepper: I have thoughts about anti-depressants, but I don't think they constitute an opinion, much less approval or disapproval. I believe that we all have individual needs and that these change significantly throughout our lives. I have experienced depression during periods of upheaval in my life. Most of the time I have been able to work through it on my own and with Spirit's assistance, but there have been a few times when I was just plain stuck. The anti-depressants I was given helped at first, but then seemed to offer their own particular brand of discomfort and my body did not like them. I imagine that some are better than others and that some people might have a more positive experience with them than I did. I think depression in various forms will be with us for a while yet, so I hope we find healthful ways of integrating all of our aspects.

Does the subject of earth changes fascinate you or challenge you at all?

Gaia: Does it fascinate you when you stretch in the morning? Are you challenged when you pull a hamstring or strain a muscle? Facetiously speaking, it is a little like that. Earth changes are not planned, but they are synchronistic. Likewise, you do not plan to get a cold, but their arrival is sometimes synonymous with the need for rest, do you see? For the physical earth these changes are normal, even in their most advanced stages. It does not occur to you how many living cells are sloughed from your body each time you bathe, because it is necessary and you know that they will be replaced. It is like that for the physical earth, there are no thoughts of preventing or avoiding that which is natural. The sentience that now relates these words to you feels what humanity feels, and that is altogether different. My sentience is compassionate and so feels what you feel. Build well your cities and in accordance with what is to be as well as what is!

Pepper: Everyone who knows me knows that I am terrified of earthquakes! Even the smallest tremor sends me running for the door, heart pounding and at near anxiety levels of stress. It's a past life thing and I'm trying to get over it, but with little success so far. Life is interesting in that I have lived somewhere within California almost all my life and have therefore experienced more than an average amount of earthquakes. My ability to channel Gaia came shortly after my largest earthquake experience and for a while my gifts included being able to predict earthquakes, but I didn't enjoy it because I could only see what was about to happen. Without the ability to do something about it the burden was too great, so I eventually gave the gift back (yes, you can do that). I do understand the earth's need to restructure itself and I fully support that, even when it becomes uncomfortable and disastrous for the rest of us.

Are there 'safe places' to be upon the planet?

Gaia: Yes, the safest place to be is in your heart! Quite literally I tell you that this is so, because your heart is an intuitive muscle and it will not mislead you. The heart knows more than you think it does, but you must come to trust it before you can depend upon it and vice-versa. By contrast, your mind knows much less than you give it credit for and yet you depend upon it for almost everything. The mind rehearses its knowledge in order to retain it, but the heart relies purely upon its intuitive instinct. Your personal safety rests in the corridor between the mind and the heart, ready to respond when and if necessary. If you were told by a trusted source that San Francisco was a safe place to be, would you believe them? If someone channeled for you that Florida would not experience any more hurricanes, would you trust them? Perhaps and perhaps not, because the mind has formulated opinions about these places based upon recent experiences - based upon the past - but your question involves the future. There are safer places than others, but again, these depend upon what (and who) you bring there.

Pepper: I don't think so, no. I do think that some of us are better suited for certain environments than others. If it is safer for us to be in the middle of the desert but we don't want to live there, then we are not really better off. Some of us need to be near the coast, or in the forest, on top of a mountain, or out to sea. If it is aligned with our purpose and our desire then it must be right, and at least for the moment we must assume that we are safe. My house fell apart during the 1994 Northridge earthquake, but I was safe. I didn't really understand that until after my experience. I had to learn it.

Do you believe science and religion will ever meet?

Gaia: They already have, did you miss it? They are both major stockholders in the same corporation now, so they have less and less to be at odds over. Science already has proof that divinity lives in and through all things and religion is willing to include science in its discourses and dialogs as long as it keeps the coffers filled and the pews half-way full. They may not meet in public for a while yet, but they will continue to meet behind closed boardroom doors until then.

Pepper: Yes, I think so. They never did seem too far apart, at least to me. They seem to like being on opposite sides of the same coin, that way they never have to see one another or share the same space. We're all a little like that. I am sure that my views are significantly different than my neighbors, friends, or family, but I choose not to feel separate from them. Separation and prejudice above all else seems to thicken the veils of spirit and unity.

Do you enjoy the process of channeling?

Gaia: My sentience is pleased to be able to communicate in any and all ways. Channeling is like speaking in a language that is not one's native tongue; the vocabulary never seems extensive enough and the verbs are always misplaced; it is a bridge to forever and for that it is a blessing and worth every misspelled word. The process itself feels both uplifting and constraining, which is why it is very important to have an excellent rapport on all sides; this is essential. It is a temporary endeavor and will one day be replaced with more simple, yet sophisticated languages of spirit.

Pepper: Yes, very much so! It still takes me by surprise, even after all this time. It is still an unexpected pleasure and a scheduled delight. The hard part for me is forgetting or needing to let go of the last channel in order to make room for the next, but it is also more refreshing that way. I never think of it as a permanent thing that I am or do; it seems to belong more to the moment. I recently told someone that if my next step required me not to channel anymore, I could set it down with no regrets and without looking back. They found that hard to believe, but it's true (just not today!)

What can we expect from you over the next year or so?

Gaia: And if I said more of the same would you be disappointed? Expect the earth support you in all of your endeavors when you invest your heart with intention and your desires with integrity. Expect that you will learn much more about your true origins and the direction of your future as divine human beings of light. Expect to be challenged to live your fullest potential and to be rewarded by the earth when you do. Expect more earth changes in places near and far. You have 'early warning systems' within your very beings - learn their language. Expect that a few stars will fall from the sky, and that a few earthlings will find their own place among the stars.

Pepper: Much more travel it seems. I got over most of my stage fright fear last year with the help of many attendees of the seminars and workshops in the various cities I visited, so I feel more comfortable with traveling with Gaia, as it were. Twelve years ago Gaia described what my lie would be like by now, but I really didn't believe it. As with many things (not all) she was right. Her prediction was actually meant for a few years ago, but I can see where I created my own delays. In any case, there are now books, CDs and even a DVD, just as Gaia predicted.

Why are some predictions more accurate than others, especially with respect to timing?

Gaia: An age-old question, and as I am ages old I am qualified to answer it. Why does the same exact recipe turn out differently every time? Why are expectations rarely met? Predictions are not really predictions, they are estimates based upon available and determinable energy. They are composite pictures made of stardust and desire. Humanity longs to be told how it will be and then sets about rearranging the very energies it calls upon. Ah, but that is the beauty in it, at least as far as spirit guidance is concerned, because the entire purpose of guidance is to invite and incite sovereignty of choice. If you like and accept the guidance that is offered to you, then take countenance within you to align with it completely on all planes. And if you do not choose to accept the nature or thought behind the guidance offered, then know that you are powerful enough to change, modify, dissolve or create anything that your heart pleases. This is the most overlooked gift within every prediction.

Pepper: Aagghh! I hate this part. There was a time when I thought I could not or would channel any more because I couldn't stand that something I said (or was said through me) might not stand the test of time. In the beginning this really affected my channeling and I even thought about making an agreement with Gaia that would exclude that privilege, but I got over it. I realized how helpful this form of guidance can be and how important it is for us to receive the information we are given as raw material instead of final product. It really is up to us to make our life one that we want to live. I have lived through very, very difficult places in my life, as I'm sure readers of these words have, too. In each of these instances it was not the predictions about my situation that mattered most in the end, it was the moment-by-moment support and guidance I received from Spirit and from friends that lead me through the darkness and back into the light.
